How You Can Help

The RCH Pied Pipers recently received a cheque for $747 towards the Good Friday Appeal – it was the result of a Charity Casual Clothes Day – perhaps this is a way in which you could help - by getting your workplace involved in the weeks prior to Good Friday. We can assist you to get this under way.

If you are over 18 years of age you might be interested participating with our Pied Pipers Intersection Collections around the Melbourne city and suburbs on Good Friday, starting at 9am and finishing around 3pm. We just need your enthusiasm - we can provide all the necessary equipment and support on the day.

Please contact RCH Pied Pipers via email at info@piedpipers.org including your name and phone contact details if you would like to get involved or leave a phone message on: 9848-9006 and we will return your call.

Come along to “The Kid’s Big Day Out” at Etihad Stadium 10am-5.00pm on Good Friday. Visit the RCH Pied Pipers Marquee (near the Channel 7 staging) or take a ride around the Stadium and environs with “Mustangs in Black” (situated on the concourse) supporting the Pied Pipers. There are many activities and lots of fun for all the family, with all proceeds to the Good Friday Appeal. (For further details see the Good Friday Appeal web-site).

Most importantly - The RCH Pied Pipers have Student Collectors from 12 Secondary Schools around Melbourne assisting us on Good Friday with our House-to-House collections (under adult supervision).

If they knock on your door - please give them your support.

Note: All official Collectors will be wearing the Good Friday Appeal 2012 I.D. Badge
(Adult supervisor can issue a Receipt where required).

Menzies Community Australia Day Awards

The RCH Pied Pipers Good Friday Supply Committee received a Menzies Community Australia Day Award on Thursday January 26, presented by Kevin Andrews, MP. The RCH Pied Pipers were also honoured by being presented with an Australian Flag and Certificate of Authenticity by Mr. Andrews. Each Member of the Federal Parliament is entitled to request a flag which has flown during a Sitting of Parliament in Canberra to present to a worthy Community Group - it is quite an honour for Pied Pipers to be chosen.

Good Friday Appeal 2012

This year's Good Friday Appeal will be held on Friday 6th April 2012. See How You Can Help.

Good Friday 2012 (April 6) will be the 81st Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children's Hospital, and the 43rd year of participation by the RCH Pied Pipers. Funds raised from the 2012 Good Friday Appeal will fund research and equipment for the new Royal Children's Hospital.

This year, funds raised will be used towards the purchase of highly sophisticated imaging equipment: Known as M R PET, (Magnetic Resonance Positron Emission Tomography) this equipment has a big name, a big task to perform and a big price tag. It will provide a greatly improved imaging process for patients who have cancer, neurological conditions and many other diseases or disorders. Costing around $8 million, MR PET will enhance accuracy in results, ensure a more precise diagnosis and improve patient outcomes. It will be the first of its kind in Australia and one of the first in a paediatric hospital in the world – again keeping our hospital at the forefront of medical care.

The RCH Pied Pipers need your vote

The RCH Pied Pipers thank all who voted. Thank you to all who supported RCH Pied Pipers in the recent Coles-on-Line “Click for Community” project . Coles-On-Line offered Grants to charities in need of funding and Pied Pipers have successfully received $1,000 by being chosen as finalists.

$60,190.30 raised from sale of 2011 Mark Knight Grand Final Poster

To achieve such an outstanding result with our Mark Knight Premiership Poster sales (despite the rain and cold) at the MCG was a testament to the loyalty of the Pied Piper Members and Pied Piper Volunteers who “braved the elements” on Saturday October 1st at the Collingwood v Geelong Grand Final, including those who then gave up their time to sell the posters at the MCG Open Day on Sunday. We thank you one and all! Treasurer Ruth will be happily investing a large amount in an Interest Bearing Term Deposit - what a great boost for our 2012 Good Friday Appeal total! Thanks to the Herald-Sun and the Good Friday Appeal team for making it possible.

Welcome our new Ambassador, Matthew Richardson

The RCH Pied Pipers is very excited to welcome our newly appointed Ambassador, Matthew Richardson - better known as “Richo” – who had a great AFL career with Richmond!

We are so privileged to have two very dedicated Ambassadors in Lina Caneva and Russell Mark, and Matthew will add a new dimension in terms of his association with 3AW and Channel 7 – and in particular his popularity with the young age groups who are so vital to the success of our Good Friday Appeal activities. We look forward to working with Matthew during our fundraising and Club activities.
