About Us

Good Friday Appeal

The main fundraising event for the year is the annual Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Approximately half of the funds contributed on Good Friday are allocated to research projects with the balance used mainly for the purchase of specialized medical equipment.

"The common goal is to raise money for The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, and to ensure that all children with life threatening illnesses receive the best possible medical and clinical care."

Good Friday Appeal 2011

Good Friday 2011 (April 22) will be the 80th Anniversary of the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children's Hospital, and the 42nd year of participation by the RCH Pied Pipers

Funds raised from the 2011 Good Friday Appeal will fund research and equipment for the Royal Children's Hospital

2011 Success

The 80th Anniversary of the Good Friday Appeal has been a resounding success, with a record total overall of $15,156,000.

The RCH Pied Pipers proudly contributed $256,020.11, bringing our total contribution in 42 years of participation to $5,786,519.89.

In addition to our RCH Pied Pipers Members and Volunteers, the Pied Pipers led an additional 700 Students plus Teachers and Parents into the community as Volunteers on Good Friday, either as house-to-house collectors or assisting at our “Kids Big Day Out” Marquee at Etihad Stadium.

We also had a large group of “Mustangs in Black” (donating their time and funds) raised from taking families in their fleet of Mustang Convertibles for a drive around the Etihad Stadium precinct.

Our 10 x Major Intersection collections were also manned by Pied Piper Volunteers (some of whom have been with Pied Pipers on Good Friday for over 30 years). This year we also had a group of Intersection Volunteers from South Croydon Football Club.

All of our Good Friday activities are controlled from our Pied Piers HQ in Doncaster, where we are in constant Radio contact (thanks to Motorola) with our team of Pool Car Drivers, Area Controllers and Intersection Controllers who oversee all the areas in which we participate.

All of this takes months of careful planning and most of all the involvement of many individuals and Companies who generously support our Good Friday activities (see Acknowledgements).

If you would like to become involved on Good Friday – please join us – as either a Pied Pipers Member or Volunteer (see How You Can Help).

Please also refer to our total school funds raised, to view the history of the amounts raised by secondary schools who have volunteered for the RCH Pied Pipers over the past five years. The contribution of all schools over the history of the Pied Pipers has been invaluable and we thank you for your continued support.
